Dear god ..

I wish I believed that you exist. Because then I’d have a reason to fall to my knees and pray that of the remaining four undecided Senate seats at least three go to the Democrats. For unless that happens, Joe’s victory will be the most Pyhrric of all times.

But I don’t.

  1. And if I was a prayin’ woman I’d be on my knees praying that the current president of them there UNited States of America has been assassinated. I’m dreading to think of the havoc he is going to cause in the next two months. But I’m not a prayin’ woman either. What a debacle going on over there.

  2. Yup, I’m worrying about the Senate too. Biden could end up with a re-run of Obama trying to do good things for America and the world and being thwarted by the Senate at every turn. I think the monster will throw all his toys out of the pram in the next two months, but after that I am hoping that various avenging lawyers will be after his blood.

    • Oh, MATE .. It’s fingernail-chewing time, alright. Mitch McConnell is, imnsho, the most evil man in the country.
Perhaps he might die of badness ..?

    • Goodonyer, Maggie Wilson ! – if Canadians can laugh, we Aussies who are a shitload farther from all this should certainly be able to .. But oh, how ghastly it will be if that criminal McConnell gets his way again ..

  3. Here is a man I’ve just heard described as a malignant narcissist who isn’t happy unless someone else is hurting and he is being given all the prizes. He has exhibited the qualities of a little man pretending to be a big man all his life. It takes a big man to accept defeat graciously. It is simply beyond him. Mind you; there is no constitutional requirement for a concession. They will quietly and effectively boot him out. One of the most unpleasant people of our generation.
But he has brought a lot of people a lot of happiness today. Some cause happiness wherever they go and some cause happiness whenever they go. I think Oscar Wilde said that.

    • He has indeed, Simon – all his life !
I confess to spending time on Twitter, just to soak up some of the vibes. They’re awfully joyful. :D

  4. Would it be ok with you, M-R if I just pray twice as hard? 😊 I’ve been elated all day…in tears, actually. It’s true that without the Senate we’re still stuck, but that will primarily be “our problem” and domestic issues will be slow, if not blocked entirely. But we can re-enter the Paris Climate Accord, restore relationships with our allies around the world, and re-introduce science as fact. There are going to be more than a few charlatans looking for new ways to peddle their crazy. We are still unblievably divided as a country, as you can see.Biden can only do so much with that. But I think he knows that, and will do what he can. I won’t miss the name calling, lies, disrespect and chaos. Whew!

    • Oh, you glorious creature ! – I am happier for you than I can say, honestly !!!
I’m wondering what happens if Georgia come through for the Dem Senators and there’s a tie ..

      • To be honest, this is such an unusual election cycle that I’m learning things for the first time, which I probably should have known long ago. We really are in a mess. DJT is is a total obstructionist and there is likely to be some really ugly “stuff” to still hit the fan. But at least we feel hope. I have felt for four years that my hair might spontaneously combust. It’s actually been helpful to me to know that friends like you, in other countries, have understood our pain. I’m almost more concerned about our standing with others around the world than I am with what we can accomplish here. My daughter has several friends living internationally, and it broke my heart when a few of them posted on FB that for the first time in a few years they were willing to identify themselves as Americans. Think of that! It’s all been so sad. We’ll have to learn together how this all works now, M-R! :-)

        • America’s reaction to Biden’s win is soul-stirring, Debra; and it gives you all the right to expect the rest of us the give you back the respect your country had before 2016 – the very great respect that I, e.g., held for you under Obama.
Obamas are seen only once in a lifteime, I think.
But we loved Joe as Barack’s 2IC; and Barack told us of his absolute worth.
Now we see it for ourselves: he is a genuinely good man.
You guys will be OK in the long run. Definitely.

  5. The Senate results were not what I had hoped for. I had wanted decisive victories and turnover to Democratic majority. The fact is the Dems lost seats in the House and that is also troubling. We (the good, sane people) had hoped for a more decisive victory for Joe, but it seems too many people have been brainwashed or led astray by the constant angry, lying drumbeat of Trump, many Republicans and the conspiracy theorists. For people to think that Dems are fascists and going to destroy the country is beyond hysterical to me.

Anyhow, the Democrats need to come up with a plan to deal with the political divisiveness and somehow get a number of Republicans to work with them instead of being assholes against them. The Republicans have made this country worse, so now it’s time to actually help to make it better.

    • I read that Joe is planning the inclusion of some Republicans in his Administration, but am having trouble thinking of who they could possibly be ..
Romney is the sole name that floats up, and even then,M-J ..
Not another Republican is worth even half a pinch of shit .. :\

      • Romney was one of the few Republicans who spoke out against Trump. Then again, he voted to confirm Amy Coney Barrett. I’m sure if Joe includes a few Republicans, he and Kamala will do their homework and hsve them vetted. It would be a hand across the aisle with the hope that the Dems and Repubs could get something done the next four years rather than fighting.

        • But .. Cruz ? Scalise ? Gaetz ? Rubio ? Collins ? Nunes ? McCarthy ? Jordan ?
Still, I s’pose of the faceless ones whom we know nothing there could be some fodder ..
          Sighh ..

  6. There is no accounting for passionate extremists who are not convinced with truth or science. This and the alt right are what the Democratic parties are up against, worldwide. In America it is highly magnified.
