Season’s greetings, y’all ! [grin]

Well, Colorado would probably say it like that; and seeing as how she is A Noteworthy Person with a Noteworthy Blog, I’m doing the same.  🙂

I’m in a pretty good mood, owing to having almost viewed a new place yesterday. One almost views a potential abode by turning up wearing The Wrong Shoes. They actually did tell me in a note that as the place is still under construction – ready middle of January – one must wear ‘enclosed shoes’.

Will runners cut it, d’you think ? – if they don’t, I’m stuffed (there’s another viewing arvo tomorrow). But yesterday I had to slink away weeping from mortification and disappointment.

The buildings look great, and I REALLY like the area of Prahran they’re in. Tons of shops within spitting distance – always a big plus with me, especially when they’re not in the actual street !  I’m going for the cheapest lot, which are ground floor and 1st floor: if they’re properly built there won’t be noise. These are supposedly affordable housing, but seeing that the lowest price is $415 pw, you can judge that claim for yourselves. Still, to get into a brand-new development that has both caretaker and building manager .. I shall be (as our surfers seem to like to say) STOKED. [grin]

And on it goes, the business of finding a place for MR to kark in. Oops ! – I’m not supposed to say that .. OK then: a place in which MR can spend her final days. Yuck ! – I find that much more offensive ! Anyway, you get the idea. It is to be somewhere whence I make no further forays into rented real estate.

EAT MINCE PIES ! DRINK CHAMPAGNE ! LIVE IT UP, CHILDREN !

  1. Dare I say, I’ll believe that when I see it (and I don’t mean karking!) Seriously Prahran is a good place. I think our son lived near there for a while, and loved the markets, so I do hope you like the place and that you get a spot there. When are they supposed to be ready by?

  2. They’re saying 15th Jan. Not sure if they’ll make that – but who am I to carp ? and how would I know ?! There’s a whole shitload of development of this kind of housing going on in Prahran, where they’ve removed ancient and ugly stuff.

  3. Ooo, brand new!! That’s always been a big draw for me. This house is the first place I’ve been in (as an adult) that’s old enough to have trees taller than the house (and that’s because I planted them). I do hope you can get your hands on one of those places.

Meantime, Merry Christmas! How do you celebrate down there? Go to the beach or something?

  4. Not I ! – coming from a peat-bog Irish peasant ancestry, I have fair skin that burns very easily and causes MUCH suffering. I’m going to Ballarat for xmas with a cousin and his lady, then spending Boxing Day with another cousin and some visiting cousins twice removed – greatly looking forward to both. 🙂

    • That’s indeed civil of you, my small, pretty, clever friend ! Me too !!! – is all I can add to your wishes. I’m currently creating rent payments from my bank statements where my RE agent didn’t send receipts (they can be lazy, alright). The sweet bloke who will be the Property Manager is keen to have me there, but my renting history being nothing but broken leases don’t help. Ve shell zee; but I’m doing my damndest to prove that I’m a totally reliable payer. Oremus .. 😀

  5. Couldn’t agree more, Marilyn !! I’ve checked about the footwear, and I’m told it’s OK; so off to finally see what I might be moving in to on January 15th !! Yaaaaay ! – well, almost .. 🙂

  6. I think you have a list of specific requirements if you’re going to land softly in a new home, but I think your needs are basic and you’re going to find just the right place. You want to be where you’re near to activity and shops, but you want a peaceful environment, too. I don’t think that’s too much to ask! I hope this brand new place might be just the one for you. It sounds like a strong possibility. Fingers crossed!

    • EGG-ZACKLY !!! That’s IT, Deb !! So .. off this-arvo to finally lay eyes on the as yet unfinished buildings, due for moving in to mid-January. I’m excited ! The Property Manager is keen to have me there, but my current (Chinese) PM isn’t frightfully up-to-date with things like references. So I’m trying to use my bank statements to prove reliability – not helped by having changed banks a few months ago. Sighh .. one of our Prime Ministers was renowned for having stated solemnly that ‘Life wasn’t meant to be easy’, and I kinda think he was right ! [grin]
