Look carefully and you will see how Phyllis is bursting with buds. I counted 15 ten minutes ago, and I’ll bet I missed some. She’s already had two blossoms.
This is amazing because before I came here (February 13th) and was finally able to position her with morning sun, she had sad, wrinkled leaves that looked as tired as I did. Not even a suggestion of a bloom: I was worried that all energy was spent.
But now … well, she’s showing you how I feel about being here; because if I could have blossoms on me in the right environment, they would be putting their beautiful heads out just like Phyllis’.
She’s a cactus orchid: an epiphyllum oxypetalum; and this is what she’s going to look like (only better, of course !):

Not only are her night-time blooms divine, they also smell divine !!!
Frankly, anyone who has any spot that gets morning sun and who hasn’t yet added a cactus orchid to it … well, yer bonkers. I have spoken.
And btw: this post is to stave off more whinges about my lack of The New Place info. I’ve been REALLY busy with setting it up; and on Friday morning both the Federal and the State Ministers for Housing are visiting us with entourage, and I shall be kind of pushed in their direction to welcome them and rabbit on about how terrific this place is. There will be media.
Can I do it ? – of course I can. Do I want to do it ? – I want to do anything at all that will be a gesture of thanks to the people here, who helped me in so many ways.
It is truly special. Just like Phyllis !
I’m so glad to hear both you and Phyllis are happy and content. Her blossoms are beautiful. I’ve never seen any quite like that.
I know moving and resettling is an exhausting undertaking, so pace yourself. We out here can wait for news. It’s enough for now just to know you (and Phyllis and Boodz) are there.

Thanks from the heart, Colorado !! :) I can scarcely wait for the opportunity to show you Phyllis IN BLOOM …
And Boodie is ecstatic here, too: spends hours and hours out on the balcony, doing his favourite thing, World Watching, from his cat platform or from the actual railing.
Me and my mini-family are so lucky, so lucky …

I’m happy you dared, Amanda me old china. 🙂
And that’s a continuation of my being, as you hear, happy in general ! – almost deliriously so. I’m living in a beautiful flat, surrounded with gardens and really nice people, who are those running this show. Boodie is in his elephant. I am having morning coffee with the person who has made my late years like early ones. My cardio did not summon me to an earlier appointment after an echocardiagram.
I am definitely among the luckiest of old farts you will come across anywhere !!!

Thanks, Michele !! – thanks a lot. :D
I still have to post; but I’m now waiting till after tomorrow morning, when there’ll be a big media do here with both State and Federal Housing Ministers coming with entourage to visit the scene of their success. As to why I’m waiting, it’s so that I can write about that as well as the flat – which is gorgeous, btw !! Big horse I’m going to be kind of featured as the tenant rep of the place. [grin] Cross yer fingers I don’t say something I shouldn’t, eh ?

I hope the housing ministers were kind didn’t ‘make you feel uncomfortable. And yes indeed, Phyllis looks happy! It sounds like you are, too, my friend. I’m so glad!

I had the most AMAZING morning, Deb !! – have never in my life been paid so much attention. It was “M-R { … }” the whole time, from everyone – and there were an awful lot of ’em. The Ministers – Federal and State – were two super women, just lovely. They could not have been nicer, I promise. I’m being sent a framed photo of the three of us, taken in my kitchen. I’m still a bit dazed by it all.

Oh, I missed this MR. So sorry. My Californian friend arrived on 12 March and life has been very busy since then. She leaves in two days.
You (and Phyllis) have had great weather for moving in.

We sure have, Sue. And you see what it has meant to her !
But were I to post shots of me on my balcony, I too would be covered in buds about to blossom. Sort of. [grin]
