OMG …

I just heard a KOEL !!!

I didn’t know they were down here in Melbourne: Stringer and I used to spend summers cursing the bastards day in, day out.

All I need, right now.  😦

  1. I had to Google to know what you were cursing. Ha! I am not familiar with this bird, but you’ve raised my curiosity! Seems like wherever we go there is one pest or another. Currently, I prefer birds, even pesky ones, to half the people who live in my country. But that’s an entirely different rant. 😉

  2. Indeed it is, my beautiful friend ! – and I do assure you that we down here (well, an awful lot of us) are cursing that half a whole big lot more than I used to curse the koels up in Sydney ! But one has to be resigned to the fact that the Dems aren’t really in touch with the important stuff; and this state of affairs – that a country’s two main political parties are virtually vying for the Best Useless Idiots crown – seems to be world-wide. 😦

  3. My first thought was what the hell is a koel. This was one of those times when the internet proved invaluable. Pictures and recordings. Not exactly a songbird but not the worst I’ve heard either. And it sounds a whole lot better than most of the politicians I’ve been hearing for what seems like … forever.

    • Mebbe not the worst you’ve heard when listened to on your laptop/phone/tablet; but you have to think of being awoken by the bloody LOUD and mournful whooping at around 5am and knowing it’s going to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on …

Get the picture, Colorado ? [grin]

Re the pollies: I now believe absolutely that there is no such thing as a good and honest politician, anywhere in the world. They are all under the thrall of Big Business of one kind or another; and as we actually know, it’s Big Business that runs the world.

      • No annoying birds around here, but back in Oklahoma there was a certain mockingbird …

As for the pols, I’ve known of maybe half a dozen that I thought remained honest and well intentioned while in office. Most find that, at the very least, they have to go along to get along. It’s such a dirty business that most of the really good guys won’t get involved.
