I was wasting time the other day (becoz I was reluctant to return to my crochet, owing to a fear that the second panel was smaller than the first in a very fine wool sweater I’m making) watching cat videos on YouTube.
I saw one wherein a very attractive moggy – orange and white – was gazing at a mobile phone, and then curled up on top of it. The video purported to be footage of a cat shown an image of its dead owner; and I will confess that I had a lump in my throat upon seeing it.
Said lump was only in existence for a nanosecond but.
“WOT ?!” I cried aloud: “cats can see people on phone screens and recognise them ??” I laughed scornfully: “total bullshit !!”
This video – also on YouTube, of course – proves me right. Amazingly, I think, it doesn’t out the video on the grounds of how illogical it is !

There are people out there making up fake videos. One can’t help wondering why, fer crissake !!!!
It would had to have a screen saver photo of dead person on mobile screen (and who does that!!) for the cat to sit on it (or shit on it!) xx

We-ell .. Not necessarily, Goanna: some family member could’ve sent it specifically to “show” to the cat .. I imagine the people who put it online had some stupid idea like that in their empty heads .. It really does make me bad-tempered, idiotic half-wits who spend their time creating fake videos.
But there are lots of luverly cat videos – real ones !
Even some (about twenty trillion) DOG videos for those who prefer canines [sniff] .. [grin]

My sense is that most of these sorts of videos featuring animals or kiddies which are intended to amaze or amuse us are faked – don’t you think? I think you should just go back to your crocheting which you know IS real.

My Rowdy would hunker down on any unattended phone if it was warm. Provided the phone wasn’t running one of those apps for cats. But I quit playing those for him when he tried to run off with the phone one day and put teeth marks in the phone’s case.

Horror, Colorado – that beautiful object ?!! The one I can’t have a ‘copy’ of ?
Sighh .. Still, Rowdy is also a beautiful object, and mebbe he was jealous. 😀
In fact, I’m sure you’re correct about the warmth angle.

Fortunately it was an earlier case, not the one you can’t have a copy of. BTW, you mentioned a while back that your birthday was a couple of months after mine (which was in April). So have you had that birthday yet? If so, belated best wishes.

Yep: you’re April, I’m July.
’43 was a good vintage.

I, too, am very skeptical. But it does make a good story, and I’d have had the lump in my throat, too. Even though it’s a tender story, IF it were real, wouldn’t it be kind of cruel for the poor cat? My imagine takes off even though deep down I don’t believe it. LOL!

Totally agree ! The way he sort of lowers himself to curl up .. you could swear the tiny screen held something beloved. Bastards ! 😀
