On the day I went to Prahran to set eyes on the studios, I found out that they’re ALL facing directly west.
No can do. Or, should I say, no will do. Never again.

Fortunately, there are, it now turns out, a few in Building D that face south. Only remaining problem is that Building D isn’t finished yet.
It’s a good thing, to put it mildly, that in my ancient years I’ve lost most of the impatience that characterized my youthful ones.

I wondered where you’ve been MR, but now I see it’s Prahran! No, I couldn’t do West either, but South. Hmm… not much better. Still it is probably easier to warm up a place than cool it down. So, do you HAVE a south-facing place guaranteed?

I do. But frankly, I’d vastly prefer to be paying a lot more per week for a 1-bedroom facing east, and have put that to ’em. It’s all up in the air, Sue ..

Good luck … facing east or north and one bedroom would be far better.

I’ve been thinking about this, and I think on balance I’d prefer West to South. West is only bad on hot summer days but it does give you a bit of winter sun? South gives you no sun ever? But if you hate the heat then, I understand South would be better. And it depends on how well insulated the apartments are, how easy it would be to clock out the western sun on hot days to stop heating up the apartment, etc. I have my fingers crossed for you.

The thing about west is that the light is too bright, as well as the heat ghastly. I have to keep blinds down or curtains drawn, and I hate that.
Will post later about the latest, Sue !

What an adventure this has been for you. I hope that everything falls into place for you soon. BTW, I will only live in a west or south facing house because you need that to keep your yard/driveway from becoming a frozen tundra with bulletproof snow all winter. 🙂

And that’s the difference between us, eh ? 😀
I like the mental image of ‘bulletproof snow’, even if it’s an anathema to you. [grin]

Are they not new builds? Why on earth would they build them all facing west??

Spot on with that question, Hannah !
Yeah, it’s a new build. Since something had to face west, some prick made the decision to put all the cheapest apartments facing that way. As I said to my younger sister, “what a way to discriminate !”.

Facing West is a deal breaker for sure

Twice I’ve done it – of course, neither time deliberately. NEVER again.

Never again? I agree. North facing was one of my criteria at my present location after over 30 years facing west, and in Queensland mind you.

The mind boggles about west-facing banana-benders !!

You deserve to have what you want, M-R, so I’m glad you’ve put your foot down. I am confident that waiting for what’s best for. you will pay off. There’s nothing really fun about the moving process, but it’s exciting knowing there’s something out there with your name on it! 🥰

That’s about right, darlin. 😦
As moving-in day is next Monday, you will understand that I’m getting a bit anxious. If you’re not careful, I’ll call you for a good whinge .. [grin]

West facing would definitely be a challenge. And I had to keep correcting my thinking since you’re upside down and your south would never get sun whereas ours always gets sun. Glad they came to their senses with Building D.
